SATURDAY EVENING POSTER

I wish all Hollywood movies sounded as tantalizing as DRIVE, an upcoming movie directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan, and described by some who have seen it as an "art house action movie..." Easy to please, I love this poster for three reasons: its focus on man-crush hall-of-famer Ryan Gosling, plus the combined white border and the retro pop splash of the pink scripted title treatment.

i saw this at a preview screening last month (and i'll be seeing it 2 more times at toronto in 2 weeks). this movie really does deserve all the hype its getting. a fun, amazingly violent, moody action movie with a synth-y soundtrack reminiscent of 'thief' and to 'live and die in LA' (which is where nicolas refn got the inspiration for the pink font he used on the drive posters which is also the font in the opening credits of the film). ryan gosling called up the spirit of alain delon, steve mcqueen and takeshi kitano. and if albert brooks doest get an oscar nom i have no more faith in the academy.

Wow, thanks Marcus! Sounds awesome, and can't wait to hear the soundtrack and Cliff Martinez score. I need to check out To Live and Die in L.A.

It seems mostly reminiscent of The Driver, a great film noir

As tempting as it is, I gotta wait. It's always a case by case basis, but I love hearing a great new score for the first time in the theater with the movie. We'll see though, I might have to cave, or get a tease at least.

Sounds like a Michael Mann movie score. Great songs too.
