GHIBLI POSTCARDS

I had this idea for a postcard set for the Belcourt's Studio Ghibli series and wanted to mock it up for fun. I've always wanted to do my own tribute to Penguin's modern book covers and these were somewhat inspired by them. These were made as a design exercise and are not for commercial use of any kind.

Nice, I love that! When I first became interested in design it was not just the classic Penguins (the Marber crime covers as well as later series incl. the Modern Poetry covers that inspired these) but also the contemporary modern classics released by Penguin -- The Great Gatsby, Portrait/Artist etc -- that inspired me to design.

Why the hell (I guess copyrights) is all these beauties not on sale at your store?!

Correct... I do not own any rights or licensing to the Ghibli films and thus would never think to make or sell any commercial goods based on them. A lot of people profit online from things they don't hold the rights to and I try not to engage in such practices. This was done purely as a design exercise for my own entertainment and pleasure. Additionally, while many of the photographs used for these were scoured from royalty-free stock photo collections, some of these are "found photos" and I wouldn't care to commercialize someone else's work.

The work would still be valuable without Ghibli mention...

Gorgeous! someone shared this on tumblr and linked it here. I love how the pictures fit the corresponding movie titles perfectly. :)
